Teams Degrading During Video Calls
Summary:
Microsoft Teams audio or video quality may degrade during meetings due to bandwidth issues, docking station hardware, Bluetooth devices, driver problems, Teams client issues, or video enhancements.
Resolution:
1. If multiple users are experiencing the issue, verify whether there is a Microsoft Teams cloud service issue.
2. Check basic internet bandwidth and connection stability.
3. Avoid Apple Earbuds or Bluetooth headsets during troubleshooting. Test with a wired USB headset connected directly to the laptop, not the dock.
4. Use only the built-in laptop camera for testing.
5. Update Dell firmware and drivers using Dell Command Update.
6. Install recommended firmware updates and the latest Realtek Ethernet driver.
7. Reboot the laptop and docking station.
8. Disconnect Ethernet from the dock and test using Wi-Fi.
9. If Teams performs better on Wi-Fi, a Realtek USB Ethernet jitter issue may be present, which is common on some Dell docks.
10. In Teams, open Settings > Devices and disable video enhancements where available.
11. Turn off Automatically Adjust Camera, Background Effects, Video Filters, AI Super Resolution, and set Noise Suppression to Low or Off.
12. Close Teams completely.
13. For New Teams, clear the cache in %LocalAppData%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache.
14. For Classic Teams, clear the cache in %AppData%\Microsoft\Teams.
15. Restart Teams after clearing the cache.
16. Test using the Teams web version at https://teams.microsoft.com.
17. If Teams works correctly in the browser, the installed Teams client may be the source of the issue.
